Information for prospective students

If you are interested in the teaching profession, have an interest in scientific and technical issues, like to think and work in an interdisciplinary and problem-solving manner, then you have very good prerequisites for the NwT teaching degree program. For personal advice, you can contact the NwT program coordination and student advisory service (see bottom of page for contact information).

At KIT, the NwT program is offered as part of the grammar school teaching degree program, upon completion of which you are admitted to the traineeship at grammar schools. Since 2015, the teaching degree program has consisted of a Bachelor's and a Master's course, in which two subjects (so-called sub-courses) must be studied. In addition, the accompanying educational science course, school practice phases and final theses are compulsory (see Studying and teaching). A third subject can also be studied as a so-called extension subject in full, i.e. teaching qualification up to and including course level, as a separate degree course. The extension subject is made up of the content from the Bachelor's and Master's degree courses in the respective subject.
